Set Up Your Session: Plan for Success

Course description: This course guides you in how to set up and what to do before interpreting each day or session for over-the-phone interpreting (OPI), video remote interpreting (VRI) or video relay service (VRS), with guidance that often applies to remote simultaneous interpreting (RSI) as well. You’ll walk through how to log in and get ready, ways to test your audio, video and internet speed and avoid having technical difficulties (for you or the session participants), how to be prepared to go offline at the end of the session and much more. You’ll also learn to plan ahead for things that might go wrong and be prepared with simple, sound strategies to manage them if they do. Whether you work as an employee or a contract interpreter, you’ll find this guidance practical and easy to follow.

Note: In our courses, “remote interpreting” and “distance interpreting” are considered synonyms.
