Learn how to interpret for online or in-person negotiations, mediations, or settlement conferences that use Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) or Online Dispute Resolution (ODR).
Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) plays out in courts and community mediation programs across the U.S. They face a huge backlog due to COVID-related court closures, and a number of these programs will need interpreters. But do you have the knowledge, skills and terminology to interpret confidently for online or in-person negotiations, mediations, or settlement conferences?
In Foundations in Conflict Resolution and ADR for Interpreters, participants will learn how to apply their interpreting skills to ADR. This intensive workshop is highly interactive. Through role plays, videos, decision-making, skills-building, terminology exercises and more, you will apply what you learn immediately. Your engaging hosts are two ADR-specialized experts (a court-certified interpreter who is a bilingual certified mediator and a former attorney now working as a court ADR Administrator). They will guide you through the labyrinth of ADR. You will also learn about interpreting online for ODR: Online Dispute Resolution.
Course goal: Introduce interpreters to the minimal competencies required when interpreting for a range of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) processes.
Target audience: Court-certified; legal, medical and community interpreters with 40 hours or more of interpreter training
Feedback from our participants:
This was an absolutely superb training in every way! And I've taken plenty of trainings over the years. This ranks at the top, in terms of the instructors and the materials provided and the overall experience. Huge bang for my buck!
I really appreciated how concepts were explained and the role-plays that helped me implement instructions for a better understanding.
Excellent, I really enjoyed it.
